Netflix’s confronting documentary series Making A Murderer got everyone around the world talking.
The subject of the series, Steven Avery, is currently still serving a life sentence for the 2005 murder of photographer Teresa Haibach, but this hasn’t put any stop to the 54-year-old getting engaged…
The lady in question, 53-year-old Las Vegas woman Lynn Hartman, took to Facebook to announce the proposal, saying:
“I am very happy to announce that Steven Avery asked me to marry him today, and I accepted. It has been a difficult road getting to this point in our lives but we are very happy. Despite all obstacles, and Steven's wrongful conviction and incarceration, we plan to be married shortly after he is released.”
Avery was formerly engaged to Sandra Greenman, who believes Hartman has ulterior motives behind the wedding plans.
Avery spoke with The Daily Mail from his correctional facility, revealing he’s "happy, she treats me decent, she loves me, she's kind of spoiling me right now. I just want to be happy and enjoy my life, I think I did enough time.”
At the request of Steven, another Facebook post was released to ask the population to not throw criticism and hate in his future wife’s direction.
The couple has reportedly been speaking every day for months, but only met once, and they plan to get married when he is released.
However, as Steven is serving the life sentence with no chance of parole, this could be a long time in the making.
