After constantly getting bombarded with questions over whether there will ever be a Friends reunion, co-creator Marta Kaufman has addressed the rumours.
The internet is filled with fans begging creators to do or stay away from doing reunions, revivals and reboots of their favourite shows.
We’ve seen shows like Nashville get saved after being cancelled and shows like Gilmore Girls return for special revival seasons.
One show that gets brought up a lot is Friends. With such a large following and 10 seasons under its belt, it’s no surprise fans dream of a reunion. Whether that be one episode, another season or a movie.
Unfortunately for any hopefuls out there, co-creator Marta Kaufman really wants the show to stay as it is.
“They nag me all the time about it and my answer is that Friends was a show about that time in your life when your friends are your family, and in a weird way, this isn’t that different. Once you start having family of your own it changes, and the show was over.
A show has a lifespan I believe, it has a lifespan like anything else, and there’s no reason to continue doing it just because people miss the characters. Watch the old ones, there is no way we could win that. And there’s no way it would be satisfying and it’ll never happen. We’ll never do it.”
We guess no one wants to ruin a classic.
We did get pretty close when Jimmy Kimmel reunited Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox and Lisa Kudrow with this skit -
