As much as the world is crushing over the Pokemon Go app and we still cannot get enough of Snapchat and it's never ending supply of filters. However, the very apps that will literally make a life altering difference, are the ones that are lesser known.

We are going to change that with a list of apps that aim to get you safer at night, act as a panic button, keep you alert of any pending natural disasters and keep others aware of your whereabouts at all times... not one for any potential stalkers you may have!

St John Ambulance Australia First Aid.

How it works: This app could be just what the doctor ordered in an emergency situation. Covering everything from allergic reactions to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), this could be a lifesaver in your phone.

Emergency + by Fire Rescue Australia Wide

How it works: This app helps you call the right number at the right time so emergency services can best respond to your needs. It provides you with information about when to call 000, as well as the numbers to call in non-emergency situations.

Most importantly, this lets you know your GPS coordinates. This means you can read it out to operators if you are unsure about your exact location in an emergency.

How it works: This app can help your loved ones find you in case of an emergency. Bugle is a free notification service that alerts your family if you don't check in when you're expected to. The app lets you create an activity log, determine a check-in time and assign an emergency contact.

So, if you log that you're going on a hike and you don't check-in by the time you selected, the app will immediately contact your designated contact. This app is ideal for when people travel abroad and visit unfamiliar places. In case you do go missing, it can alert family and friends.

Red Panic Button

How it works: In case of emergency: press the Red Panic Button. This app can send an emergency message to any email or number with a press of a button. You can preset an emergency message and contact and if you ever press the button, the app will send that person an alert with your location. Red Panic Button is GPS based, so as long as you have reception you should be able to use it.
