Sharing your passwords to services like Netflix and Spotify is pretty common, especially with best friends and families. Unfortunately for users in the USA, that could all change. It could become a federal crime!

A court ruling in the USA has decided that the ‘activity’ is now a criminal act under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. Oops.

It all started with a case in 2008 when a man used a former colleague's password to access a computer. The ruling isn’t necessarily about password sharing and more about gaining information you’re not supposed to see.

Despite this, it doesn’t sound like our favourite subscription providers are going to give their users a slap on the wrist, even though it is technically against most of their T&Cs.

Hopefully our new government, whatever that will be, won’t do something similar in Australia!
