Remember public chatrooms? They were fun, a cure for boredom, and plain creepy... Well, they could be making a return.

In the past decade, chatrooms have dropped in popularity drastically, however, new info hints that Facebook could be introducing their very own revival of the old school social platform, called 'Rooms'.

TechCrunchan online tech blog, received insider knowledge from a developer for Facebook's messenger.

A basic description of the new feature was revealed within code:

'Rooms are for public conversations about topics and interests.

'Each room has a link that can be shared so anyone on Messenger can join the conversation.'

TechCrunch reached out to Facebook in hopes to confirm or bust the rumours. Facebook responded with, "We often run small tests - nothing more to share beyond that."

No confirmation on the feature just yet, but no denying it either!

Exciting news for those social butterflies out there, but before we go, we're just going to leave this here...
