Let's face it: when you get an invitation in the mail, via text or on Facebook, and it states there's a specific dress code, most of us freak out as to what is and what isn't appropriate to wear.

They all start to blend together and it is only at the last minute that everything pulls together.

Thankfully, we've just found some advice to help us all out.

Next time you get an invitation and have no idea what to wear for the dress code your mate's state, follow these simple guidelines!

Black Tie

Women: A long evening gown.

Men: A Tuxedo.

Black Tie / No Tie

Women: A smart jumpsuit or party dress.

Men: A dark suit with/without a tie.

Cocktail

Women: Heels and a party dress.

Men: Dark suit and tie.

Formal

Women: A smart dress or suit.

Men: Suit and tie.

Smart Casual

Something casual mixed with something formal.

Think: some chinos, a good white shirt and a blazer, for the guys; and for the gals anything from a flowing dress to jeans and a fancy top will do!
