In a very brave decision, Sylvia Jeffreys has opened up about her struggle with depression.
The Today show host revealed that while everything on the show may seem extremely happy and upbeat… after the show was done, her life was turning into everything but that.
It actually sent the 30-year-old’s health to spiral out of control and eventually lead to depression.
Sylvia told The Daily Telegraph, “It’s very easy to slip into an unhealthy lifestyle and a low mood when you’re excessively tired and sleep-deprived.”
“I found that out very quickly when I started on the Today Show 2 ½ years ago. I’ve always been a happy, glass-half-full person but I found I was more susceptible to sinking into a low mood and my mental state was changing quite radically.”
She continued, “I realised I had to be a lot more conscious of what I was eating and how and when I was exercising to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I’m fortunate that I’ve always been active and healthy, but I certainly need to pay a lot more attention to it now.”
Sylvia has now been able to pull herself out of the dark place by focusing on a new diet and exercise routine.
She is able to get of bed at 3am every day much easier and ready to go on air at 5.30am and of course she has her fiancé Pete Stefanovic by her side.
We are so glad that she is okay and think it’s incredibly brave of her to share her story.
