Alicia Keys has made headlines over the last few months for her new natural look.
The singer stopped wearing make-up on red carpets and in an essay posted on the Lenny Letter website, she explained that "I don’t want to cover up anymore. Not my face, not my mind, not my soul, not my thoughts, not my dreams, not my struggles, not my emotional growth. Nothing.”
That's all well and good, but in a recent interview with W Magazine, Alicia's make-up artist Dotti revealed that there's more to her fresh look than we thought.
The beauty expert explained that "Alicia gets regular facials, does acupuncture and she eats healthy and exercises,” which sounds simple enough, but she also revealed that Alicia isn't exactly going fully make-up free.
As it turns out, the singer still has her eyebrows filled, freckles enhanced, has self-tanning serum applied to her cheeks and a matte powder dusted over her face to reduce shine.
Although it's not the full red carpet look Dotti agrees that all the make-up is now used for is to highlight Alica's features, "Compared to the world of makeup, there is minimal. She’s already powerful to look at, with those amazing Cleopatra-shaped eyes, and now we get to see them!"
So it looks like not every woman is immune to the power of make-up.
