Grant Hackett has accused his brother of assaulting him just one day after the Olympic champion was arrested for a disturbance at his father's home.
Hackett's brother Craig on Wednesday said the three-time Gold medallist was a danger to himself and his family had run out of answers to help him deal with mental health issues.
On Thursday, Hackett responded by posting on Instagram a picture of himself sporting a black eye and cuts to his face and accusing his brother of assault.
"My brother comments to the media... but does anyone know he beat the s*** out of me?" he wrote on Instagram.
"Everyone knows he is an angry man."
The photograph appears to show Hackett inside a hospital room, though it is not clear when it was taken.
Hackett was not sporting the injuries when he was released from the Southport watch house on Wednesday afternoon.
