Tragic news this morning as we learn that Gene Wilder has passed away at 83-years-old.

Wilder's nephew confirmed that the actor and writer died earlier this month in Stamford, Connecticut from complications from Alzheimer's disease after surfing with the disease for quite some time.

Gene played many iconic roles in his time and was known for his work on stage and screen.

He soon became a household name starring in films such as The Producers, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, The Silver Streak, and See No Evil, Hear No Evil.

To us, we probably first heard of him playing the lead role as Willy Wonka in the1971's musical Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

He won our hearts with his talent and on camera charisma. He will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts go out to Gene’s family and friends during this time.
