Former Essendon Football Club coach James Hird is currently in hospital recovering from an unknown health issue.

According to Channel 7, Hird was rushed to hospital an ambulance was called to his home in Melbourne after to be treated for a "major" health scare and an "intentional poisoning overdose."

He was instantly taken to Cabrini Hospital in Malvern, but has since been moved to a second hospital.

Hird’s condition is still unknown.

At this point, it is unknown what was in his system, but thankfully he was treated as quickly as possible.
