Emma Stone is the comedy gal we all love to love.

She's effortlessly cool and has a great voice to boot, as seen in her new movie La La Land.

But what we all didn't know is that Emma has struggled with anxiety for a number of years.

Whilst recently speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress revealed that she was prone to "debilitating shyness" as a child and she used comedy and improvisation classes to open up.

"It's just the way I’m wired.

"I think my parents saw that acting was the thing that made me fulfilled and happy."

Emma explained that after filming Superbad, her breakout film, she had to move from Los Angeles to New York because she found the city too stressful.

"I started to feel overwhelmed by the energy of Hollywood.

"I would go places, and all anybody could talk about was the entertainment industry. I just felt too surrounded by that."

And whilst filming the Oscar-winning film Birdman in 2014, she explained that her anxiety erupted.

"The tightrope walk of that movie, the pacing and timing - I lost my mind a bit.
"I just got to a point where I snapped."

These days, Emma has been able to keep her anxiety controlled but still says that interviews are always difficult.

"Before any interview, I have to sit with myself for five minutes and breathe and get centred because I get so nervous.

"Interviews are kind of like therapy, except all your answers are being written down and printed.

"I always want to be on the other side of it. I don't want to be deconstructed for millions. I'd rather do the deconstructing."

We hope Emma is feeling a lot better.
