Australian Miss World finalist, Elyse Miller-Kennedy has passed away in hospital after a car accident in Far North Queensland.

Last Wednesday, beautiful 17-year-old, Elyse Miller-Kennedy was involved in a head-on collision. The accident was so severe she was left trapped inside the car for two hours.

She was eventually air lifted to Cairns hospital after it was safe for her to be removed from the car without giving her more injuries.

She was airlifted in a critical condition, rushed to hospital, and taken to a specialist unit in Townsville with severe head injuries.

Sadly last night, Elyse passed away. Her friends and family have issued the following statement, "We are absolutely devastated to announce Elyse Miller-Kennedy passed away yesterday afternoon at Townsville Hospital Intensive Care Unit, surrounded by beloved family and friends after losing her week long battle to live after a tragic head on collision on Wednesday 3rd August 2016.

Elyse was currently in Year 12 in Townsville and had big plans on moving to Melbourne or Sydney to pursue her modelling career further once she had finished her Higher School Certificate.
