Turns out not even Queen J.K believes that the ‘Cursed Child’ play made any sense and couldn’t possibly have happened.

Spoiler Alert - if you haven’t read (or seen?!) the play, turn back now and do so.

Okay, so we know that the storyline of Cursed Child revolves heavily around the use of a time-turner, with the main characters jumping back years and decades.

Since the end of the Potter books, Rowling has expanded her wizarding world via her site Pottermore, posting all sorts of fun facts, images and stories.

In an ebook released in 2016 on Pottermore, Rowling wrote:

“All attempts to travel back further than a few hours have resulted in catastrophic harm to the witch or wizard involved. It was not realised for many years why time travellers over great distances never survived their journeys.”

A few hours?!

We’re sure there is more to this time-turner rule book, so maybe another loop-hole is about to be whipped up real soon… but hey, J.K said it!
