Have you decided that this will be your year to attend the Melbourne Cup Carnival at Flemington Racecourse? It’s only a week away – so here’s what you need to know!
1. Break In Your Shoes
We can’t stress this enough. Go and put on the shoes you’re planning to wear right now and walk around the house in them. Wear them down to the shops. Do the gardening in them. Just make sure they’re comfortable!
2. Buy Your Tickets In Advance
The Melbourne Cup Carnival is a full ticketed event so you need to purchase a ticket before you get to Flemington. You can get them from Ticketek and select train stations around Melbourne including Flinders Street and Southern Cross.
3. Catch Public Transport There
The easiest way to get to Flemington is via public transport. There are special train services that will take you directly to Flemington Racecourse from Flinders Street, Southern Cross and North Melbourne stations – and all you’ll need is a Myki.
4. Know Where You Need To Go
Your ticket will allow you entry into certain areas, so make sure you know whether you’re in The Domain, The Nursery, The Rails, General Admission or any of the other areas around Flemington.
5. Download The Official App To Keep Yourself Organised
Flemington is a pretty big place, so to make sure you have access to a map plus all the most important information about what is going on we’d recommend downloading the Flemington Official Raceday Guide from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
6. Memorise The Dress Code
People dress up for the Melbourne Cup Carnival. There’s a dress code for VRC Members areas, and while there isn’t a strict dress code for General Admission it’s still recommended that you dress nicely! Check out our guide to racing fashion here.
And above all else, make sure you enjoy the experience!
The Playground at Flemington awaits. Book your tickets to the Melbourne Cup Carnival today.
