Have you ever wondered why buttons on men’s shirts are on a different side to women’s? We never even noticed!

Even though the difference seems pointless, it is actually a tribute to the 1800’s where buttons were a sign of wealth.

Women who could afford buttons usually had someone to dress them, so the maids put the buttons on the left to make it easier to do their job. Men mostly dressed themselves, so the buttons were placed to make it easier to do so with a right hand.

Who would’ve thought buttons had such a history!
