Ah Schoolies, that one time of the year where certain parts of Australia are taken over by waves of kids who want to blow off steam after being in school for twelve years.

Most schoolies head to the Gold Coast or overseas for their parties, but this group of girls decided to have a quieter celebration closer to their home in Victoria.

The girls were spending their end of year party on the beach at Philip Island having a good time in the sunshine when their inflatable unicorns, a summer staple, got caught in a current and swept them out to sea.

As we all know, Philip Island is just above the Bass Strait, so these girls were swept out in shark-infested waters towards Tasmania.

Luckily, fisherman Alex King was out looking to catch some squid when he spotted the unicorn, a flamingo and a dinosaur floating past his boat.

He brought the girls back to shore and we think this is probably the best thing to come out of schoolies this year.

Got an inflatable unicorn? Maybe, keep it in the pool this year.
