Face it, the internet has its fair share of popular baby names lists… but do we really know what names are on the list from our own country… probs not?

McCrindle have done some research and released the top 10 baby names in Australia for 2016 and tbh we are pretty devo that Shazza and Baz didn’t make the list.

Oliver took out the first place for boys and Charlotte for girls.

Oliver has been the top name for Aussie boys since 2013 after overtaking Jack and William, which were first in 2011 and 2012.

This makes Oliver now the top name for boys in all 6 states (NSW, Vic, Qld, SA, WA, Tas) while Jack was still the top name in the Northern Territory.

Charlotte this year over took the name Olivia after it was in the number one spot for three years.

Charlotte is now the the most popular Aussie girl name in almost every state… except for Victoria and WA where Olivia is still holding the place.

The study also revealed that around 1 in 10 Australian babies last year (305,073 in total) were given one of the top 10 baby names.

These are the full top 10 list for 2016.
