Well, considering Uber is now trialling freakin' self-driving cars we are seriously questioning that thought!
Rest assured, Aussie Uber passengers aren't going to be in the hands of robots just yet, as the trial is only happening in Pittsburgh in the U.S this month.
However, our wild imaginations haven't turned into a reality yet, because the cars will still have someone in the driver's seat in case something unexpected happens...
Because obvs robots can't be trusted.
It turns out the self-driving cars have been driving around the area since May, as the company has its own research centre for the new venture in Pittsburgh due to how close it is to Carnegie Mellon University - which has one of the best computer science departments!
Obviously there are a lot of things to smooth out and test before there's no one in the driver's seat!
Nevertheless, the fear of being overtaken by robots is about to come real.
Or has it become real already...
