Every week.

Most of us lug around massive handbags or backpacks to work or uni, but when it comes to special events we tend to downsize into something smaller that matches our outfits.

This means you need to ditch that collection of lipsticks, pens, old receipts, packs of tissues and whatever else you’ve got floating around at the bottom of your bag.

If you’ve got a big event coming up like the Melbourne Cup Carnival then here’s what you need in your bag.

Wallet

Try to just bring along the essentials in a little zip purse so it doesn’t take up too much space. Cash, ATM card, ID, train or bus pass and whatever other must haves for your big event.

Phone

We can’t even imagine life without our phones right now. Make sure it’s fully charged before you leave the house, and utilise any battery saving modes your phone might have.

House Keys

Because you’re definitely going home at some point!

Tissues

Use them to clean up spills, as emergency toilet paper or even just for blowing your nose

Bandaids

Blisters can happen to anyone, and luckily bandaids are so small that they’re easy to slip into your bag for heel protection.

Lipstick

You might prefer lipbalm or lip gloss – but just bring one. That’s all you need!

Bobby Pins Or Hair Ties

For hair emergencies or when your friend asks “has anyone got a hair tie?”

Mints Or Gum

Fresh breath is a must.

Hand Sanitiser

You never know when you’ll need it – alternatively a few individual sealed wet wipes will also work!

Sunscreen

Of course if you’re going to an evening event you don’t need this – but in Australia if you’ll be outside SPF is absolutely essential.

Have fun!
