One hero emerged during yesterday’s Melbourne floods - Paris Jordanou, who was filmed fishing under the York St bridge behind a car stuck in floodwaters.

Paris appeared on Today this morning to explain exactly how it all went down.

“We arrived just shortly after the first car went in and so I wasn’t expecting another one to go in, especially since coppers had blocked it off,” he said.

“But they [police] had run off to book someone trying to film it on their mobile so the other car has come in and I was already ready with a fishing pole just being a larrikin with my mates.”

And clearly, there’re only a couple of suitable accolades for a hero like Paris.

“I’ve had people ask me if I want to be Australian of the Year, or PM,” he said before taking a leaf out of Kanye's book and announcing he would be running for Prime Minister in 2020. Watch below!
