Remember when you were younger and your parents always used to tell you, you couldn't have sweets for breakfast?
So you'd stash away some lollies in your room or buy a huge ass chocolate muffin and strawberry Oak milkshake at the school canteen right after you were dropped off?
If you're reading this Mum and Dad, we totally didn't do that...
Lies aside, it turns out our parents might have been the ones telling some tall tales... because a scientist may have just proved that eating ice cream for brekkie might have some huge health benefits!
Professor Yoshihiko Koga from Kyorin University in Tokyo, Japan, carried out an experiment to test the effects of ice cream on the body when eaten immediately after waking up.
The experiment involved subjects eating three spoonfuls of ice cream after waking up and then completing mental exercises on a computer to test brain activity.
The results found that those who consumed the small amounts of ice cream in the morning had better information processing capabilities AND faster reactions times.
Participants also had higher levels of concentration and relaxation.
The experiment double checked that the cause of this increase in mental capability wasn't just due to the consumption of cold things, testing the affects of cold water and coming back with less pronounced results.
Therefore, ice cream is good for you.
In moderation.... and not as a brekkie subsitute.
So... now we just need to learn some self-control and stick to a few spoonfuls...
