Supermarket chain Aldi has responded after customers reported buying a shoe deodorising spray that seemed to be a Coles deodorant repackaged.
A customer took to Reddit to share a photo of the item, writing, “My shoe deodoriser from Aldi is actually just a Coles women’s antiperspirant with a plastic label.”
Customers also posted on Aldi’s Facebook questioning whether they had purchased a shoe spray or a women’s deodorant.
A spokesperson for Aldi called the issue a “packaging fault” but confirmed that the product is definitely a shoe deodoriser, not an anti-perspirant.
Aldi posted the following statement on Facebook in response to one of the customer comments:
“ALDI Australia is working with our supplier following customer reports of a packaging fault with our Powerforce Shoe Deodoriser 100g Special Buys, on sale from 11/01. We have withdrawn the product from sale and are investigating the error, however we can confirm the product is a shoe deodoriser and the content is true to the ALDI packaging.
“You can continue to use the product for its stated purpose, or you are welcome to return it to your local ALDI for a full refund. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
