There’s nothing more Australian than an avocado. And there’s nothing more devastating than waking up on Saturday morning only to find a brown, spotty, shrivelled AF avo in your fridge.
Luckily, we’ve done some leg work and dug up this genius, 10-second trick to keep your avocados fresh for days. Listen up…
Cut a red onion into 4 large chunks and add to airtight plastic container
Place the avocado half – keeping the pit inside – on top.
Secure the lid and place in the fridge. You'll have a fresh avocado for up to four days!
It’s that simple! Seriously, mind blown.
So, how does it work? The red onion emits sulfuret gas, which helps to stop the oxidation process that turns avocados brown.
